This is how I planned our Alaska Vacation

As I planned our trip to Alaska, I spent hours and hours on the Internet and questioning, to no end, the tour consultants. I promised this blog write up for pestering them so much…even though they said that is what they are there for, to answer all the questions.

This is how I’ve planned our Alaska Vacation…

Our flight to Alaska stops in Anchorage. First, we will spend a day or two learning about Alaska, just in case I might have missed anything online. The new museum will be the highlight in Anchorage, though I’ve also heard not to miss the Saturday Market to pick up some locally made souvenirs. We can walk from the Saturday Market and the museum to the Alaska Railroad Train Station to travel to Seward.

Whats around the next bend?

What's around the next bend?

I’ve decided we are going to work our way up Alaska in our vacation plans. The next stop on our Alaskan adventure we want to visit are the Kenai Fjords; whale-watching, puffins, glaciers… everything. This train ride to Seward is supposed to be the best. It’s called the Coastal Classic. When we get there we’ll tour the town, and get to bed early because I’ve booked us on the all day Fjords tour. Maybe we can hit the SeaLife center too?

After Seward we are taking the Seward Bus Lines back to Anchorage. From there, we are going to catch the Denali Motorcoach and head out to Denali National Park. The Motorcoach is faster then the train and most importantly, it can make wildlife and photo stops. I’ve also discovered that the Motorcoach arrives in Denali in plenty of time to tour the town before the adventurous bus tour into the park itself, leaves. We are staying at the Denali Backcountry Lodge 3 days and going back to the cedar cabins to view the wonders of Mt. McKinley from the air tours. I can’t wait. We’ll be at Denali National Park for a week so we can enjoy this once in a lifetime, much needed, vacation. Fresh air, rafting, ATV’s, walking in the footsteps of a bear…

The vast Alaska

As much as hate to have to end our vacation, it must end, so we plan to go to Fairbanks as our final Alaska Destination. We could hardly leave this state with out panning for gold! We’ll be here in Fairbanks only two days so we’ll book the El Dorado Gold Mine Tour, it’s a half-day excursion. Then we can end our Alaska visit in the North Pole visiting Santa.

There is so much more to do, the northern Alaska tours, tons of Alaska flight seeing tours. The Internet and the Tour consultants at Alaska Denali Tours made our choices for our Alaska vacation possible, see you there!
