3 to 4 Day Getaways before or after your Alaska Cruise

If you are taking a Southbound cruise from Alaska, you are most probably flying into Alaska, and either planning to land in Anchorage or Fairbanks. Most of the time, since there is a higher frequency of flights to Anchorage than Fairbanks, either your cruise company, or your travel agent would recommend you to fly to Anchorage. Similarly, if you are taking Northbound cruise to Alaska, you are probably flying back to your home from either Anchorage or Fairbanks.

In either of the two above scenarios, it is always good to Continue reading

Denali Backcountry Adventure Overview

There seems to be some common misconceptions about the Denali Backcountry Adventure. We’d like to lay those to rest, and give a complete overview of the adventure.  First of all, some background on the route:

The Denali Park Road begins about 240 miles north of anchorage, and 120 miles south of Fairbanks, on the George Parks Highway.  The Park Road is 92 miles long, and for the most part, unpaved and fairly narrow.  It is a truly beautiful route, in an environment yet unspoiled by excessive development. Amazing time in Denali National Park

I walked out of my room that morning to the freshest air, the crispest view of the scenery. I took a picture. I called to my husband, to have a look with me. We just stood there in awe noticing everything from the farthest tree to the dragonflies zooming by. We looked forward to our flightseeing tour in Denali National Park, through the winding valleys of the Alaska Range, and the indescribable vision of Denali herself. It was a flight into the Denali Backcountry Lodge where we stayed for 3 days. We meet some amazing people from all over the world; we went on ATV adventures that were like a dream come true. We saw moose and fox; we saw so many more animals on the trip back on the bus ride.
It was a short adventure that I can’t recommend more. The staff was so friendly, answered our questions, I am sure that they had been asked hundreds of times. Now that we’ve been there we understand what “remote” really means. And the people of the Denali Backcountry Lodge brought some civilization to the wild country in a very unobtrusive way for us to experience.
Thank you,
